THE ABSOLUTE TRAVEL COLLECTION

the empty snow globe
the color bloc souvenirs

the generic postcards

the standardized experience

I'm doing my thesis on the absurdity of mass tourism. I have been working on the things what we see when we travel and turned them into the utmost absurd possible things I could.

This is how I started an absurd collection of visual supports (postcards, souvenirs, monuments, locals) and set them up as pieces of a primitive museum collection.
I've made a cabinet de curiosité out of it, because the theory I illustrate is that our travel experience is reduced to visiting a living museum where everything is only a representation of the truth.

The touristic industry makes us believe that what we see is authentic but things are nothing but genuine. Even the locals have to act local and dress up to look authentic...

Tree painting

I worked on the language of nature and my theory was that nature speaks through movement, for movement is life. So I tried to see how I could turn this movement into something visual.
I shot a movie of moving plants, then attached brushes to branches and to my fingers, and let the magic begin.

Ghost book - art direction, creation, shooting

Inspired by the myth of Mu Lian and his mother -at the origin of the Hungry Ghosts Festival- this journey with no beginning nor end brings light to the relation between humans and ghosts.

Two intertwined worlds -just like Yin & Yang- where interpretation has no limits.

Digital and handmade - Ink & Shadows - shot with a vintage film camera.

Self portraits with my left hand

At school we had to repeat something (anything) every day for 7 days.
My group had the great idea to decide to draw self-portraits... but with our LEFT hand. In 15min.
I actually had fun.
